Rolls-Royce and AMS join in I&C system testing services

As part of Rolls-Royce’s Pulse predictive maintenance technology, the services the companies will provide jointly are for monitoring the performance and health of safety I&C components, which include neutron detectors, pressure transmitters, temperature probes, cables and connections.
Eric Blanc, president of Rolls-Royce Civil Nuclear France, said the partnership with AMS will enable the British engineering company to offer "complementary predictive maintenance solutions".
AMS President HM Hashemian said the partnership "will add a significant new dimension to AMS' worldwide footprint".
Rolls-Royce designs, manufactures and ensures the long-term support of safety I&C solutions for civil nuclear reactors worldwide, from its centre of excellence based in Grenoble, France. AMS provides the nuclear power industry with equipment, training, and services to verify the performance of process I&C systems. It is headquartered in Tennessee, USA.
Rolls-Royce says its Pulse technology covers the "health monitoring" of critical I&C components by "pinpointing possible failures before they happen, thus reducing associated maintenance costs and risks”.
AMS was one of 11 companies selected in November last year by the US Department of Energy to share USD18 million for advanced nuclear technology development, gaining USD2.8 million to study testing of electrical cables in nuclear reactors for age-related wear.
